TeCH TOK 3(Apple vs Google War)

. Apple did all of that and giving fresh bump to  Google at the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) event that took place a few days ago in San Francisco.

WAR--IS ---ON !!!! :)
When Google launched Android on Mobile phones, Steve Jobs viewed it as pure CHEAT and called it a form of “grand theft” and vehemently declared a “thermonuclear war” against his former friends. Just how thermonuclear was evident when in one simple iOS upgrade Apple hit Google in multiple areas. No one would know that  it gonnna severely affects Google.& Oyeah it did  !!!

 Flavour 1
Google Maps, the main foundation of the great partnership between the two giants, is out off iOS. This critical piece of software has resided on the iPhone since the device’s 2007 debut. And now it’s gone, over and very Dramatically !

This is a serious blow to Google as it stands to lose massive advertising revenue from every Apple Google Maps user and also loses out on its favourite pastime – tracking people tracking others whereabouts. Apple will release its own mapping application and has thrown in some great features (Siri Integration, Turn by Turn Voice directions) as well as a lot of eye candy visual effects (Vector-based, 3D and Flyovers) to go with it.

Flavour 2:
Google will have to do something extraordinary to make people go through the effort of downloading and installing Google Maps as a separate app.
Facebook has about 930 million users. Google+ has about 180 million. For Google, its social platform Google+ is a huge priority and the only way to do it is through fantastic mobile phone integration.

It’s built deep integration of Facebook into iOS 6. You put in your Facebook details just once and almost every app then becomes Facebook-enabled. You can update statuses and post on Facebook by talking to your phone – including posting photos with voice commands. With such tight, seamless and fun ways of Facebook being embedded deep in iOS – why would any user go for google plus when each time he/she have to enter account details again n agin ........ : Google+ needs to hit a minimum of 400 million users for it to become a serious alternative to Facebook. Reaching this number could be a huge problem now.

Safari browsing with a read later (Reading Lists) feature as well as amazing Siri integration, Photo Streams now with group sharing and notifications, VIP feature in the Email app as well as the all-new Guided Access System. This is a treasure chest of new features and each seems to have a single purpose – hit Android fast and hard.

Flavour 3

Once again, integration with business review service Yelp Inc. and online restaurant reservation service OpenTable Inc. have been built into iOS6.

It’s now gonna be a THermo Nuclear War BETWEEN TWO TECHNOLOGY GIANTS as entry into fresh world of technology, business and rivalry.

Allen Turing-THE MAN OF HONOUR   (Tribute on his B'DAY)

Nobel Prize in TECHNOLOGY ------->Turing's Award

“The past is a foreign country—they do things differently there.” It’s a saying that rings especially true in the world of technology. But while innovating requires us to focus on the future, there are times when it’s important to look back. Today—the 100th anniversary of Alan Turing’s birth—is one such moment.

Statue of Alan Turing at Bletchley Park

Turing’s life was one of astounding highs and devastating lows. While his wartime codebreaking saved thousands of lives, his own life was destroyed when he was convicted for homosexuality. But the tragedy of his story should not overshadow his legacy. Turing’s insight laid the foundations of the computer age. It’s no exaggeration to say he’s a founding father of every computer and Internet company today.

Turing’s breakthrough came in 1936 with the publication of his seminal paper “On Computable Numbers” (PDF).  This introduced two key concepts, “algorithms” and “computing machines”—commonplace terms today, but truly revolutionary in the 1930’s:
  • Algorithms are, in simplest terms, step-by-step instructions for carrying out a mathematical calculation. This is where it all started for programming since, at its core, all software is a collection of algorithms.
  • A computing machine—today better known as a Turing machine—was the hypothetical device that Turing dreamed up to run his algorithms. In the 1930’s, a “computer” was what you called a person who did calculations—it was a profession, not an object. Turing’s paper provided the blueprint for building a machine that could do any computation that a person could, marking the first step towards the modern notion of a computer.
Considering the role computers now play in everyday life, it’s clear Turing’s inventions rank among the most important intellectual breakthroughs of the 20th century. In the evolution of computing, all paths trace back to Turing. That’s why Turing is a hero to so many Google engineers, and why we’re so proud to help commemorate and preserve his legacy.

Turing was born into a world that was very different, culturally and technologically, from ours—but his contribution has never been more significant. I hope you’ll join me today in paying tribute to Alan Turing, the forefather of modern computing.

A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business.
Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do something different.

He called all the young executives in his company together.
He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you.. "The young executives were Shocked.

Boss continued. "I am going to give each one of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you.
I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one
I choose will be the next CEO."

One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed.. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.

Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew.
Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing.
By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like a FAILURE.
Six months went by -- still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed.  Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however, he just kept watering and fertilising the soil.
A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection.
Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot.

But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right.

He took his empty pot to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at
the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful -- in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!
When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives.
Jim just tried to hide in the back.

"My, what great plants, trees and flowers you have grown," said the CEO.
"Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!"
CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered  Jim to be in front..Jim was terrified.
He thought, "The CEO knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!"
The
CEO asked him what had happened to his seed - Jim told him the story.
The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives,
"Behold your next Chief Executive Officer!
His name is Jim!" Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed.

"How could he be the new CEO?" others asked.
CEO said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone-a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow.
Except Jim, All of you, when found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed. You all bought up beautiful plant.

Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the New Chief Executive Officer!"

If you plant honesty, you will reap trust
If you plant goodness, you will reap friends
If you plant humanity, you will reap greatness
If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment
If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective
If you plant hard work, you will reap success

If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation

So, be careful what you plant now; it will determine what you will reap later.
